High Octane Farcical Comedy in "It Runs In The Family" at the Milnerton Playhouse

19/11/2013

It Runs In The Family
"It Runs In The Family", a classic farce by Ray Cooney, directed by Johan van der Merwe opens at the Milnerton Playhouse on 22 November 2013.

An hilarious farce set in the doctors' common room of a London hospital three days before Christmas. Dr David Mortimore is preparing his lecture for a conference of neurosurgeons that should guarantee him a knighthood and the hospital some badly needed funds when a former nurse bursts in with the news that their fling some 18 years and 9 months ago made Mortimore a father. The boy, emotionally highly strung and under arrest for drunken driving, is downstairs, desperate to meet his long-lost Dad.

In the midst of Mortimore's panic, deception, mistaken identities, double-entendres, puns and flapping doors fuel this high-octane comedy. Lies pile on lies, as Mortimore enlists his colleagues to deceive his wife, his boss, a police sergeant and even his new-found son. Sharp syringes, crashing wheelchairs and window ledge wrestling matches unfold as events begin to spin deliriously out of control.

Performances: 22, 23, 28, 29 & 30 November 2013 at 20:00 and a matineé on 30 Nov. at 14:00
