It is with great sadness that we learnt of the recent demise of yet another ‘grande dame’ of the Masque Theatre - Birga Thomas, after her long fight against illness. Birga was a loyal member of MADS and an active member of the MADS Committee for many years, as well as a regular visitor to the Masque Theatre.
Birga will always be remembered for her innovate productions, especially August: Osage County[, a black comedy by Tracy Letts, as well as for her insightful guidance to directors, actors and actresses. In the words of her husband, Wolfgang, “birga’s life was rich and fulfilling - it touched and filled the lives of those around her. Until her last months, birga was aglow with artistic talent which she used to create beautiful fabrics and profound texts on the weaving loom, the written word or the stage”. We wish to offer our condolences to Wolfgang, her children and grandchildren – you are all in our thoughts and prayers May you rest in peace birga. In consideration of birga’s wish to be cremated, there will be no funeral service. Donations in her memory may be made to Boys Town. |
